An Unprecedented Spectacle
The Dakar Rally 2020 sought to announce Qiddiya on a global scale with a closing ceremony that would transform the undeveloped desert into a grand stage for the world. Saudi Arabia's General Sports Authority gave Live Nation and PHNTM only 31 days to create an unforgettable spectacle in the untouched Qiddiya desert, with the majestic Tuwaiq Mountain as the dramatic backdrop. The challenge was creating something unprecedented in scale and ambition within an impossible timeline.

PHNTM's innovative vision transformed the Tuwaiq Mountain into a stage that became an extension of the surrounding environment. We incorporated over 400 lighting elements, a complete special effects package, and a turnkey video management solution. The design created a holistic illusion where stage and mountain merged as one. We facilitated performances by Wiz Khalifa and DJ Snake, ensuring a harmonious blend of cutting-edge technology and creative artistry that honored the desert landscape.
Over 50,000 fans witnessed a captivating spectacle unlike anything seen before in the region. The event culminated with a narrative-driven projection-mapped story that set a new Guinness World Record, followed by over 13,000 fireworks illuminating the desert sky. This ambitious project successfully positioned Qiddiya on the global map while demonstrating PHNTM's ability to push creative boundaries and deliver unforgettable experiences under extreme time constraints and challenging conditions.
